# Tileward in ChatGPT How to add Tileward Context to ChatGPT as a custom MCP connector that signs in with your Tileward account, which URL to use, what the connector can see, and where Tileward Governance runs for chat. Page: https://tileward.com/docs/chatgpt/ ## Tileward Context: recall instead of resend ChatGPT takes a remote MCP server by URL in developer mode. Give it this address and sign in: ``` # the connector URL https://context.tileward.com/mcp/connect ``` - Turn on developer mode under Settings → Security and login, then open Plugins, select the plus button, and create a developer-mode app for a remote MCP server: paste the URL and choose OAuth. - The menu path has moved more than once (Plugins was Connectors), so look for developer mode and a plus button that adds an MCP server. - Developer mode is available on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts on the web. A workspace admin can switch it off or allowlist specific apps, so check with them if you do not see it. - Use the `/mcp/connect` address, which signs you in with your Tileward account. The bare `context.tileward.com` used in config files takes an API key, which the connector dialog has nowhere to put; paste that one and you get a sign-in error that says so. - Then ask ChatGPT to remember something, start a new chat, and ask it to recall. ## Tileward Governance: governed chat goes through the API - Governance refuses a prompt before the model sees it, which needs a hook the client runs before sending your message. Coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex expose that hook, so the gate runs there; ChatGPT does not have one. - A connector, a custom GPT or a system prompt only offers the model a tool it may choose to call, which is not a control. - For governed chat, call the API: the guard runs on Tileward's side of the request, so anything that calls Tileward gets the same decision and the same audit record. The addresses are on the [endpoint table](https://tileward.com/docs/#endpoints). ## What the connector can see - A custom connector exposes everything the server offers, reads and writes alike, subject to your confirmation settings. Tileward Context includes tools that delete stored conversations and one that purges an account, which cannot be undone. Review the confirmation settings rather than approving by reflex. - Tileward receives the turns you ask it to remember, and your recall queries. Storage is per account, never pooled with another tenant, and never used to train anything. ## Related - [Connect a client](https://tileward.com/docs/): every other client, and the endpoint table - [Tileward in Claude Code](https://tileward.com/docs/claude-code/): Context plus the Governance hook - [Tileward in OpenAI Codex](https://tileward.com/docs/codex/): Context plus the Governance hook
